I've got a 7th level character thats concentrating on dual wielding. 32 point buy, catfolk (favored class - Ranger) S: 14 D: 18 C: 14 I:12 W:14 D:10
So far the build is Lvl 1 - Ranger - FE Magical Beasts, Track, FEAT - 2 Wpn Fighting Lvl 2 - Fighter - FEAT Oversize 2 Wpn Fighting Lvl 3 - Fighter - FEAT Exotic Wpn( Elvish Thin Blade), Wpn Finesse Lvl 4 - Fighter Dex +1 Lvl 5 - Fighter FEAT Quick Draw Lvl 6 - Ranger Combat Archery FEAT Improved 2 Wpn Fighting
Skills wind up as Climb - 8 ranks Handle Animals - 8 ranks Jump - 8 ranks Knowledge Dungeoneering - 5 ranks Knowledge Nature - 4 ranks Spot - 7 ranks Survival - 7 ranks
Concept. What should I go for next level? I can easily go Ranger (skill points are good) or fighter (better HD and puts me in line for an extra feat at 8th if I go fighter again). I'm interested in pClasses geared for dual wielding and I've been eyeing Dervish. Base speed is 40 so its not out of the question. I've been toying with taking the XP penalty for a couple levels and going with 3 levels in Barbarian, but that limits me on improving weapon specialization.
NOTE: Elvish Thin blade is effectively a scimitar that does d8 damage and is finessable.

Check out the Tempest from Complete Adventurer. It is -far- more useful than the original version. Only problem is that you don't have Mobility and Spring Attack, which are requirements. On the upside, if you go for it, it eventually (at level 5) allows the use of Spring Attack with TWF, and greatly lessens the penalties associated with TWF. Combined with Dervish, and you can kick some major rear.

Kari, The Ambidexterity and Tempest Defense are kewl, but I'd not want to go down the spring attack route. I'm looking more for "Throw a lot of attacks" than "Jump in and jump out". If my characer's not going to close and hose, thats what a strengthed bow is for... :-)
So far for combat, sticking back and pelting an enemy with arrows until they get close, then doing the "Free action to drop bow, Free action to draw swords, full attack" has worked well. Rapid shot from the rangers combat archery allows me to either throw three arrows or 4 sword attacks. Not too shabby in the combat department.
